In late Summer of 2012 a group of four talented individuals met at “Seven Cups” café to form an “artist” network. They brainstormed on the possibility of an event that would bring artists together, educate the community on the value of art, and how art plays a major role in bringing revenue into the City of Maricopa. Hence, the “Maricopa Artisans’ committee was formed and “Art on the Veranda” was introduced to the community of Maricopa in 2013, continuing for more than 4 annual live exhibitions. These coupled with various Showcase presentations at area cafes, curated by Bonnie del Turco and other creatives, and Kaui Wilson’s popular Art & Sip. Once MAC cleared the way to begin regular curated galleries at City Hall and the Library (Dec. 2015; September 2016), city Visual Artists had the standing showcase they had wanted for wall-hung artworks in two dimensions on canvas, paper and cloth, and as bas-relief.
